autobiz launches its VIN decoder
This new feature of the autobizMarket platform enhances the operational efficiency of used car professionals. It enables the precise identification of a vehicle’s version, with all its options.
Tested for two years by automotive experts, the VIN autobiz decoder is now available to autobizMarket subscribers who request it.
Used car professionals will now save precious time during the vehicle identification procedure. All they have to do is enter the plate number into the decoder.
In just a few seconds, the system displays all the vehicle’s data: information from the vehicle registration document (brand, model, engine, power, etc…), but also information from the manufacturer (equipment, options, version).
autobizMarket subscribers can thus refine their valuation of a car at the time of purchase or sale, according to its level of equipment. There is no longer any need to question the manufacturer when in doubt.
This new functionality will prove particularly useful for imported vehicles, for which identifying an equivalent finish on the French market can be more complicated.
The VIN autobiz decoder covers almost 90% of the market, including all French and German brands.
The Vehicle Identification Number is a unique alphanumeric code of 17 characters. Generalised from 1981, this serial number is used to check that a vehicle corresponds to its registration certificate.
The VIN consists of three distinct series of codes. The first, WMI (World Manufacturer Identifier), consists of three characters that identify the country where the vehicle was produced and its manufacturer. The second, VDS (Vehicle Descriptor Section), consists of 6 characters dedicated to the description of the vehicle. Finally, the VIS code (for Vehicle Indicator Section) identifies the vehicle through 8 characters, the last 4 of which are necessarily numbers. The VIN is inscribed on the chassis and engine of a vehicle. It can also appear on the driver’s door or in the onboard vehicle computer menu.
